Today we’re pleased to welcome Suzanne Siracuse to the In The Suite guest seat. She’s a CEO, Founder, and leading industry consultant with 20+ years of iconic experience in wealth management and the financial services industry. She’s an advocate for women who champions diversity and inclusion whenever possible. She’s a lover of animals and The Beatles!
Suzanne is CEO and Founder of Suzanne Siracuse Consulting Services, LLC where partners with organizations to develop innovative business and marketing strategies. She advises financial services firms on innovative business strategies, financial literacy, next gen talent, and distinctive marketing programs and impactful advocacy initiatives around diversity. She has accomplished a lot since starting her own business in August 2019.
Suzanne launched a new podcast called The Big Reveal which offers an insider peek into the human side of the industry’s leaders, innovators, and influencers. In her new limited series, Suzanne has a serious knack for getting guests to open up about personal and professional journeys, while offering their perspectives on news, hot topics, and industry trends. At the end of each episode, Suzanne’s guests share something they’ve never revealed before, hence the title, The Big Reveal.
She has a fantastic piece of advice to keep in mind for anyone at any stage of their career. “One of the big lessons that I’ve learned is that your definition of success is going to change throughout your career,” Suzanne tells us.
The thing with Suzanne is that she’s a leading industry consultant and finance powerhouse. People know her name, she’s basically a celebrity. You know that phrase “your reputation precedes you?” Suzanne is the dictionary definition of that, people have heard her and the work she’s done without having to actually meet her.
You might know her from her 23-year role at InvestmentNews. She began as Publisher and worked her way up to CEO. Suzanne oversaw the vision and strategic direction for all of InvestmentNews’ platforms including print, digital, events, and research. Under her leadership, InvestmentNews launched initiatives to support the evolution of areas of Practice Management, Women’s Leadership, Diversity & Inclusion, Innovation, NextGen and Financial Literacy.
Suzanne has a passion for advocacy, innovation, and volunteering. She’s an active volunteer at the Animal Rescue Fund in East Hampton, NY and an advocate for the humane treatment of animals.
She has been a speaker and moderator at events on topics ranging from investing and leadership to financial literacy and fintech. In fact, we actually met in a ladies room at an InvesmentNews Women to Watch event in early 2020 before COVID hit the US. She complimented me on the green heels I was wearing. Suzanne is a beautiful blend of friendly, approachable, and welcoming.
In the podcast episode, Suzanne gives us a lot of insight into what the transitional phase of beginning a business feels like. Suzanne says she enlisted a personal advisory board and an executive coach to work through the changes. This trusted close inner circle empowered her, giving her a soundboard to make moves and make things happen. And you know those nasty, rude little voices in your head saying negative things? Suzanne has a great way to hush those mean, unproductive thoughts.
“I always play this game in my head, like what’s the worst thing that can happen?” she says. This allows you to really think and imagine. Is it really so horrible or is your inner voice your worst critic? It’s all about changing your mindset.
Please let us know how you enjoyed this episode with Suzanne Siracuse. We’d love it if you left us a 5-star review on Apple Podcasts or your preferred podcast network. Keep Suzanne’s three strategic concepts to help you master your.
- Check in with yourself. If you’re pondering things like: Why am I feeling unsatisfied? Why am I searching for something else? What made me happy in the past? Check in with yourself to make sure those things still bring you joy. If you’re feeling that there’s something off, listen to what your mind and your body tell you.
- “Creativity is the new superpower.” Suzanne tells us. COVID changed the way the game is played for everyone. It changed the acceleration of adoption of technology because people were forced to change to embrace more tech solutions at a faster rate. Not only that, it accelerated us by years.
- It begins with your connections. Understanding the ebb and flow of the ecosystem of the finance business is a skill set of its own, but it begins your connections and who you know. This is a relationship business and Suzanne’s tip is to pay attention because establishing those relationships and understanding who does what, where, and why will be important.
